The SEOW recently redesigned our website. You can still find SEOW publications, such as the epi profiles and data briefs, as well as training on data literacy and access to data dashboards from several state and national agencies.

July SEOW Meeting Thursday, July 28th 9:00-10:30 MST
The Colorado SEOW has invited
Emily Fine and Sara DeLong, both with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, to present on the 2021 Healthy Kids Colorado Survey results and how they informed the statewide campaign Forward Together. If you are unable to attend, you can view the presentation following the meeting by accessing the recording on our website.
 
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
In May the SEOW invited Josh Barocas (School of Medicine, University of Colorado Denver - Anschutz Medical Campus) and Dana Bernson (Special Analytics Projects at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health) to present on the Massachusetts Public Health Data Warehouse.

New Fentanyl Brief, Colorado SEOW
According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, drug overdose deaths with mention of fentanyl in Colorado have more than doubled each year since 2018, resulting in 540 fentanyl-related overdose deaths in 2020. Preliminary data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) predicts 1,913 fentanyl overdose deaths in Colorado for 2021, continuing the upward trend.

Characteristics of adults evaluated for substance use and treatment planning, Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report
In 2019, 65.8 million U.S. adults reported binge drinking and 35.8 million reported illicit drug use or prescription pain reliever misuse during the past month. Persons with substance use disorders are at high risk for overdose and other harms. To read the full report, click here.

The purpose of the NPN Conference is to highlight the latest research in the substance use prevention field. It provides a forum for prevention professionals, coalition leaders, researchers, and federal partners to share research, best practices and promising evaluation results for the purpose of integrating research into prevention practice.
